Our Mission: Debating to Donate

Building Life Skills

At Horizons, our exceptional staff strives to instill game-changing speaking and critical thinking abilities through teaching Public Forum Debate to students who are entering middle school, or currently in middle/high school. All skill levels are welcome, since students will be placed in leveled classes based on their experience.

Giving Back to the Community

Amidst the current COVID-19 crisis, medical facilities throughout the world lack access to adequate funding and supplies. To help those on the front line, 100% of what we make is donated to the World Health Organization's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

With the help of our wonderful students and their parents, we've been able to donate $6,880.

Thank you!

Why Us?

We feature an impressive 5 : 1 student-to-teacher ratio, ensuring that each student receives the individualized attention needed to learn and thrive within the debate space. Over the past two years, we've run successful sessions and tournaments with over 100 total students from across the country.

Each of our experienced staff has reached elimination rounds at national and local tournaments, accumulating over 2,000 debate rounds of experience. We've also successfully worked with coaching new high school debaters countless times. Most of our coaches are active instructors for Acton-Boxborough's local middle school debate team.

Most importantly, all of our instructors have a passion for debate and are thrilled to pass on their debate knowledge to our students.

Why Debate?

An excellent way to cultivate important life skills, debate is a great activity for those of all ages. Apart from just learning the art of public speaking, students also develop research abilities, critical thinking capabilities, and teamwork skills — all of which are key to a lifetime of academic and professional success.

There are many forms of debate, but Horizons Debate focuses on teaching Public Forum.

What is Public Forum Debate?

Public Forum, one of the most popular forms of debate, is a widespread extracurricular that consists of teams of two people and is found in both middle schools and high schools throughout the country.

Here at Horizons Debate, our goal is to teach  Public Forum in order to give aspiring debaters and public speakers a head start in the activity upon joining their school Speech and Debate teams.
